Harvard Study on Success

A 75 year study of Harvard students/graduates was published as “The Triumphs of Experience”. One of the main insights from this study is that happy people are more successful than those who are not. Success was not just in material matters, but also relationships, marriage, parenting, etc. Now, I would have thought that anyone who graduated from Harvard would have been successful, but that is not always the case.

In the case of the Harvard study on success, the men who were happiest, were those whose mothers assisted them in developing positive, supportive patterns in their lives. In the case of the others who develop negative patterns, it is because they didn’t have the tools at that time to recognize the falseness of what they (like us) are being told and live their lives from that point on as if the false patterns were the truth. (This study dealt with men, but I am sure that this information can be extrapolated for women, although we might not know which parent was more influential).

Beliefs and their Patterns

Beliefs and patterns are created, initially, are created before we understand that we can accept or reject what we are being told about ourselves, but may be reinforced by the things that happen as we experience life. In the case of positive beliefs, this is a good thing but not when we create negative beliefs.
